Like many others, I’m sure, I scratched my head when I saw the ad for new Coors Light Iced Tea.
The local liquor commission has been pushing this new product pretty hard, but to be honest, the idea of beer and iced tea, combined, is a bit odd.
Still, I’m a big fan of Strongbow, a cider, and it’s usually one of my go-to patio drinks (it’s as refreshing as beer, but with a pleasant, crisp, fruity flavour). So, I decided to give this new Coors product a try…
I didn’t want to buy a 12-pack, though, in case I hated it.
So I snagged a tall boy, instead:
And poured it into a nice tall glass, with a few ice cubes:
And you know what?
It’s pretty good! I didn’t LOVE it, but for someone like me, who isn’t a big beer drinker (and when I do drink beer, I’m partial to Hefeweizen-style beer, like Hoegaarden) this is a really nice alternative.
It ‘s nice and light, and has an aftertaste that’s just slightly fruity, which is kind of weird, because it isn’t supposed to be a fruit iced tea flavour or anything. But really, it isn’t unpleasant at all!
I can easily see this drink ending up in my rotation of favourite patio drinks, after sangria and Strongbow, of course!
Just my two cents.
Have you tried it? What do you think?

Gotta agree. I was sceptical too, until I tried it. It’s a very refreshing change ! Was getting tired of the same old ‘ lime in the beer ‘ routine. Well done Coor’s!!
Hey Mike, I know! It’s just something a little bit different… I wouldn’t want to sit down and drink a case or anything, but one or two hits the spot!
